The implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative is supported by Brazil and Germany, on January 30, reports the press service of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held talks. In a joint statement following their findings, they noted that “Unanimously support the full implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative”.
The leaders of both countries also called for a just and lasting peace. They noted the negative global consequences of the conflict in Ukraine for food and energy security in the world.
Recall that since February 24, 2022, Russia has been carrying out a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. At the beginning of the conflict, the Ukrainian side undermined the waters of its ports, which led to the cessation of the export of agricultural products from its territory.
In July 2022, agreements were signed in Istanbul between Russia, Ukraine and Turkey on the export of food from Ukrainian ports. They received the name “grain deal”. The term of the contract was set at 120 days. In November, the grain deal was extended for another 120 days.
