On March 8, the United States (US) embassy in the Russian capital said it was “monitoring reports that extremists are hatching imminent plans to attack large gatherings in Moscow, including concerts.” He asked people to avoid crowds and pay attention to news reports, without going into detail about the nature of the threat.
The next day, the Portuguese Embassy in Moscow called on Portuguese people in Russia to avoid “places with large crowds of people” following “information about the recent neutralization of an attempted terrorist attack.”
The British Embassy also posted a notice online and said it was monitoring the situation. Subsequently, other embassies, such as those of Germany, the Netherlands and Latvia, asked citizens to take additional security measures.
This Friday, a shooting at the Crocus City Hall theater left at least 18 people dead and 43 injured, as well as the arson of the concert hall.
