A Su-22 fighter jet flew over the heads of protesting farmers in “training” purposes, stated the press secretary of the commander-in-chief of the Polish Armed Forces, Marek Pawlak, on March 22 in an interview with o2.pl.
On Friday, a Polish Su-22 fighter jet flew low over protesting farmers near the town of Brokencino on the DK 11 highway between the towns of Lotyn and Okonek. The plane flew so low that participants were forced to cover their ears.
Pawlak assured that the flight took place in the designated area and that its altitude, at the low flight level, corresponded to the training program for the Su-22 fighter-bombers. “By an unfortunate coincidence, these people ended up there”said the colonel.
It should be noted that the video published with this incident caused great resonance on the Internet and was considered by many supporters of the protesters as an attempt by the authorities to intimidate people. In particular, Colonel Robert Stachursky, a defense and crisis management expert, called it “Lack of imagination and non-compliance with safety regulations!”.
