On the second day of his three-day tour of the Middle East, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken reiterated calls for a “two-state” solution to the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict, writes The Epoch Yimes on January 30.
Blinken issued the appeal amid a steady escalation in Israeli-Palestinian violence that has claimed more than a dozen lives on both sides in recent days.
In a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Blinken expressed Washington’s hope to see “freedom and security” “equally” for Israelis and Palestinians.
US President Joe Biden said: “remains fully committed to this goal. And we believe that the best way to achieve this is to uphold and then realize the vision of two states (Israel and Palestine – approx. Red Spring AI)”.
Blinken added: “Anything that takes us away from this vision, in our view, is detrimental to Israel’s long-term security and its long-term identity as a Jewish and democratic state.”.
