Eleven days after escaping from the Tires women’s prison using a simple chair, 41-year-old prisoner Rita de Mello Franco was caught this Friday morning after she was caught stealing goods from a supermarket in Carcavelos, Cascais.
This was announced by an official PSP source. CM that it was the supermarket security guards who noticed the theft committed by the prisoner and immediately arrested her. Local PSP was called and agents realized they were dealing with an inmate who had escaped from Tyres Prison on March 11, just over five kilometers away.
“The arrest warrant issued by the prosecutor’s office for the crime of escape prevailed over the crime of theft and she was immediately taken to Tires prison,” concluded the same PSP official source.
Let us remind you that Rita Mello Franco had to serve 2 years and 11 months in prison out of a 9-year sentence for theft, assault on physical integrity and forgery of documents.
