Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina defeated American Claire Liu on March 23 in the second round of the WTA-1000 tournament in Miami.
Kasatkina, world number 11, won the first set against Liu (114th in the WTA rankings) 6:0. In the second set, with the score 1:0 in favor of Daria, the American refused to continue the fight. The match lasted 21 hours and 41 minutes due to bad weather.
During the match, Kasatkina did not complete a single ace, made two errors on the second serve and won four games on her opponent’s serve (in total, nine break points). Liu has one serve to his name, four double faults and not a single break point won.
In the third round of the prestigious contest, Daria Kasatkina will face Sorana Cirstei from Romania.
The WTA 1000 Miami tournament takes place on outdoor hard courts from March 19-30. The prize fund of the contest amounts to more than $8.9 million and the current champion of the contest is Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic.
