Athlete Jasmine Paris made history by becoming the first woman to complete the Barkley Marathon, one of the toughest marathons in the world. The British finished the race one minute and 39 seconds ahead of the 60-hour limit. She was so exhausted that she passed out as soon as she finished the route.

A BBCJasmine Paris said she was “glowing” and that after training she felt like she could finish the race.

“I still haven’t realized that I finally did it. This year, over several months of training and preparation for the race, I had a strong feeling that I could do it. These last moments redefined for me who I am. capable,” he said.

Some media outlets shared photos of Jasmine Paris’ legs full of cuts due to the obstacles she encountered along the way.

The Barkley Marathons were created by Gary “Lazarus Lake” Cantrell and Carl Henn. It is inspired by the prison escape of James Earl Ray, Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassin. In 1977, Ray covered 19 kilometers, running for more than 50 hours in the forest, hiding during the day from air searches.

The race at Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee changes every year, but covers about 100 miles and includes more than 18,000 meters of ascent and descent. Along the way, participants are constantly challenged and have to go through several stages. Since 1989, only 20 people have completed the race within the allotted 60 hours.
