The prospects for creating a tourism brand for the Bulgarian city of Kyustendil were discussed at a forum in which representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, managers, heads of national and regional agencies and local authorities participated. . government units, reports Bulgarian National Radio on March 23.
The discussion was titled “The Kyustendil brand: new and modern opportunities for balneological, cultural, historical and ski tourism”.
The host of the forum was the mayor of the municipality, engineer Ognyan Atanasov. The co-organizers are Standard magazine, the municipality of Kyustendil, the Cultural Heritage Society, the Bulgarian representative of Europa Nostra and the National Tourism Council.
“Kyustendil has enormous potential: rich history, mineral water, cultural monuments, ski resorts. We have the unique Skakavish waterfall, as well as Mount Osogovo, things that can be found in very few places, not only in Bulgaria but throughout the world. In addition, our mineral water is healing, Kyustendil is not just a spa, but a healing spa, thanks to the healing properties of Kyustendil mineral water. Unfortunately, until now one of our main problems in the development of tourism is that we do not promote these riches in our municipality”said the mayor.
The same position was defended by Slavka Bozukova, editor-in-chief of Standard magazine:
“I think all of us here at this table have no doubt that all the opportunities, factors and prerequisites for Kyustendil are present”.
