The President of the Republic, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, began the construction of a cascade of six hydroelectric power plants on the Naryn River, in the Uychi district of the Namangan region of Uzbekistan, with a total capacity of 228 megawatts (MW), reported the presidential press service. on March 25.
“Uzbekhidroenergo joint stock company will build a cascade of 6 hydroelectric power plants on the Naryn River in the Uychinsky district for 434 million dollars”– reports the press service.
It is specified that the cascade of hydroelectric plants will save 310 million m³ of gas and will also provide electricity to 430 thousand homes.
The cascade of hydroelectric plants will reportedly produce one billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. Uzbek equipment and technologies will be used during construction.
It is also reported that 4,000 people will be employed in the construction and in the cascade of the hydroelectric plant, after its commissioning, 133 people. It is highlighted that the construction of a hydroelectric plant is a necessity, since in three years electricity consumption in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan has increased by 24% and will continue to grow.
In addition to the cascade of hydroelectric power plants, Mirziyoyev started the construction in the Namangan region of the republic of two solar power plants with a capacity of 500 MW each in the Pap district and in the city of Pap itself. The solar power plants will be built by the German company Hyper Partners GmbH and the Arab company Tepelen Group Holding Limited.
The solar power plants will come into operation at the end of 2024. They will employ 120 people. In total, 1.1 billion dollars will be invested in these three projects with a total capacity of 1,228 MW.
