Spain is facing its worst outbreak of whooping cough in years. In the first six weeks of 2024, the total number of cases has already exceeded 300 compared to the previous year.
In 2023, the child died at the age of just one month. According to a report from the National Epidemiological Center of the Carlos III Institute of Health, the document also states that the mother was not vaccinated during pregnancy.

Since 2005, the acellular vaccine has been used in all doses of the vaccination schedule. In 2016, vaccination of pregnant women was introduced from the 27th week.
