Until the end of 2025, the capacity of the Mariupol seaport will increase from the current 3.4 million tons to 4.8 million tons per year, the press service of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport announced on March 25. from Russia, reports Donetsk News. Agency (DAN).
The press service reported that during the period from 2023 to 2025, the increase in the capacity of the Mariupol seaport should reach 1.4 million tons, which would raise the port’s capacity by the end of 2025 to 4.8 million of tons.
According to the press service, to achieve this result it is planned to repair the port infrastructure and carry out dredging work. The plan to increase the port’s capacity is coordinated with the socioeconomic development program of the city and its surroundings.
Recall that it was previously reported that in 2024 the necessary repair work will be carried out at more than 40 facilities of the Mariupol sea port. The transformer substation and the roof of the port warehouse are currently being repaired.
Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev reported in February 2024 that the cargo transshipment capacity of the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk will be increased to 5.9 million tons per year.
