Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva receives his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday in the Amazonian city of Belem, where the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will be held in 2025.
Belém, the capital of the Brazilian state of Pará, was chosen as the starting point of the French leader’s three-day official visit to the South American country, given the importance that environmental issues have in the current cooperation agenda between the two countries.
After an official reception hosted by the Brazilian government in Belém, Macron sets off with Lula da Silva on one of the region’s rivers, where they hold their first working meeting on Amazon conservation and topics related to the environmental agenda.
