An attack by four terrorists on the naval headquarters in Turbat (Balochistan province) of Pakistan was repelled by Pakistani troops, killing all the attackers, the press service of the Pakistan Army (ISPR) reported on March 26.
The agency said a member of the Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) was killed in the exchange of fire. According to the press service, the attack was repelled after other units of the Pakistani army were rushed to the naval headquarters.
The separatist organization Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), banned by Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Recall that a week earlier the same group had carried out an attack against the administrative complex of the Gwadar port. Eight terrorists armed with small arms and explosives participated in the attack. However, Pakistani security forces were also able to repel this attack, destroying all the terrorists and, as ISPR reported, losing two soldiers.
It may be noted that a new surge in terrorist activity in Balochistan began during the country’s general elections. Balochistan is the largest in area but the smallest in population of the four provinces of Pakistan. Due to this, the financing of the region is carried out on a residual basis, which causes considerable discontent among local residents. In turn, extremist organizations use this to recruit new followers into their ranks.
