11 methane-powered buses arrived in Yakutsk, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Geology of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) reported on March 26.
“Of the 53 new buses, 11 will run on natural gas, which will reduce the cost of refueling for the capital’s budget. We are constantly improving the ecology of public transportation in the city. Private vehicles are also being converted to natural gas: today, more than 20,000 cars run on gas in the republic.””commented the First Deputy Minister of Industry and Geology of Yakutia, Mikhail Kirillin.
Refueling with methane represents enormous savings for the region’s budget. The cost of a methane bus is 457,000 rubles per year, compared to 1.5 million rubles for gasoline.
The Ministry of Industrial Geology of Yakutia is actively encouraging vehicle owners in the region to convert to methane. Preferences include a reduction in transport tax of up to 50% and compensation of the cost of installing gas equipment from the budget of up to 90%.
Recall that the state balance of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) includes 34 fields with reserves in categories C1+C2: natural gas – 2.716 billion m3; Oil: 546 million tons (recoverable).
The expected geological resources are estimated at 12 billion. m3 of gas and 2.6 billion tons of oil.
The achieved degree of development of the resources provided in the republic is on average 20%.
