Forest firefighters extinguished three fires in the Chita and Karymsky regions, the press service of the government of the Trans-Baikal Territory reported on March 26.
The fire was extinguished by 17 forest firefighters in an area of 14 hectares.
As of March 26, there are two more forest fires in the region covering an area of seven hectares. They are scheduled to be removed at the end of the day. The total area of the fire was 65 hectares.
In all cases, the fire was started by local residents who handled the fire carelessly.
This year, 28 forest fires were recorded in the Trans-Baikal Territory on an area of 288 hectares. In 2023, during the same period, 21 fires broke out on an area of more than 900 hectares.
Let us remember that forest fires are the main cause of damage and death of forests in large areas. More than 10,000 forest fires occur in Russia every year. About 80% of forest fires are caused by man.
The protection of forests from fires includes a system of measures to prevent, prevent, detect, control and extinguish forest fires.
The main methods of fighting forest fires are: overwhelming the edge of the fire, filling it with soil, filling it with water (chemicals), creating barriers and mineralized strips, starting a backfire (annealing).
The process of extinguishing a forest fire is divided into several stages:
— stop the spread of the fire edge;
— location of fires;
— indoor fire extinguishing;
— monitor the territory to prevent new fires.
