On Tuesday, the international press reported that friends of Dani Alves helped the Brazilian footballer pay the one million euro bail he paid. Yesterday I was allowed to leave prison on parole. Rumors initially arose that Neymar’s father would be the one to donate money for Dani Alves’s defense, but the Al-Hilal player’s father eventually denied all these news.
Now Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reports that the money was contributed by a group of friends, including a current footballer. The Mexican TV channel TUDN goes further, promoting, based on different sources, the name of Memphis Depay, an Atletico Madrid player who was Dani Alves’ teammate at Barcelona in 2021/2022.
“It’s also important to note that my brother was in prison for ten years and they almost never asked me about it. However, they asked about Mendy and Dani Alves. Both were linked to houses of crime, but that doesn’t mean they are no longer my friends,” Memphis Depay said in an interview when asked about the Brazilian footballer’s case.
Recall that Dani Alves was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a young woman in a nightclub on December 31, 2022. The Brazilian will wait for the final verdict with his family, since, despite the guilty verdict, the defense, the public, the Prosecutor’s Office and the victim appealed to a higher court.
