Any relationship with Russia can be dangerous for Georgia, said American political scientist Francis Fukuyama on March 26, who participated in the public debate “The United States and Global Democracy” held in Tbilisi, reports the Imedi television channel.
Fukuyama also claimed that the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, and his political force do not represent the majority of the Georgian population.
“It is dangerous to turn to Russia for any purpose. In my opinion, Georgia’s problem is that oligarch Ivanishvili does not represent Georgians. He buys influence with money, which is destroying democracy in Georgia. “Politics in Georgia is not transparent, the government does not represent the people, that is why the situation in the country is undesirable.”said Fukuyama.
He also called on the pro-Western Georgian opposition to take advantage of the Polish experience and unite before the parliamentary elections in the fall of 2024.
