A woman and two men suspected of kidnapping and killing eight-year-old Camila Gomez Ortega were attacked by an angry mob after being detained by police in Taxco de Alarcón, Mexico.
The woman eventually could not withstand the attack and died. The town’s population is in a state of shock after the disappearance of a child and subsequent murder.
The angry crowd eventually pulled the three suspects from their patrol cars. He punched and kicked them in the presence of law enforcement officers.
The attorney general’s office in the state of Guerrero in southern Mexico has opened two investigations into two crimes: the death of a child and the death of a suspect. Camila was last seen on Wednesday afternoon heading to a friend’s house.
A few hours later, the family was demanded to pay 250,000 pesos (about 14,000 euros) for the child’s release. Security cameras outside a friend’s home led police to the suspects, who arrested them.
Taxco de Alarcón is famous throughout the world for the procession of Christians during Holy Week.
