The PS has detained a 19-year-old man wanted by French authorities in the Algarve for about a year after he injured three people, one of them seriously, at a train station in France, police said this Saturday.
In a statement, the Judicial Police said that the Criminal Information Unit of the SP detained a 19-year-old foreign national in Loule, on the basis of which a European Arrest Warrant (MDE) was pending, issued by the French judicial authorities for this crime. crimes against physical integrity with the use of bladed weapons.
According to the joint venture, the young man, who had lived in Portugal since he was 11 months old, is accused of injuring three people, one of them seriously, as part of a fight that took place at a train station in France about a year ago.
The SP explains that the suspect was not in police custody at that time and therefore an EAW was issued and due to these facts he could have been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
The police add that the young man was presented to the Court of Appeal of Évora, which ruled that he should await the conditions of the extradition procedure, since he was subject to a compulsory measure in the form of weekly appearances at the police station in the area of his residence and a ban on traveling outside the district Algarve without prior permission of the court.
