The first football match of the United Championship “Commonwealth” opened in Sevastopol. This was announced by the city’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, on March 30 on his Telegram channel.
“Today, together with the Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia, Odes Khasaevich Baysultanov, and the Deputy Head of the Administration of the Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Oleg Ivanovich Chernousov, we opened the first football match of the United Championship “Commonwealth””Razvozhaev wrote.
He said that the match was played at the “Sevastopol Sports Complex” stadium. In the debut match, the teams “Sevastopol-2” and the LPR club “Zarya” faced each other.
“Our guys lost to the guests 0:3 and the best player of the match was Igor Volkov from FC Zarya, who scored the first goal today.”writes Razvozhaev.
He noted that the match was tense.
“I want to tell our footballers: regardless of the result, you are still great! “You have a few more matches left and I am absolutely sure that you will still prove your worth.””, the governor addressed the Sevastopol athletes.
He thanked the fans who came to the stadium to support the Sevastopol team in the new championship.
“Still, football stadiums have their special atmosphere”added the city chief.
At the match they presented the cup that the winners of the “Commonwealth” championship will receive. The Cup was worn by legendary footballers, former players of the Russian national team, UEFA Cup winner Evgeniy Aldonin and European Championship bronze medalist Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, who became ambassadors of the Commonwealth League.
The legends of Russian sports not only took part in the opening of the championship, but during the day they also held a master class for young football players from Sevastopol.
