FSB special forces blocked terrorists in the residential areas of Makhachkala and Kaspiysk, the information center of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (ANC) reported on March 31.
“During operational search activities carried out by security authorities in Dagestan, information was received about the whereabouts of armed persons involved in terrorist activities. Tonight they were blocked by FSB special forces in several apartments in residential areas of Makhachkala and Kaspiysk.”the message said.
It is clarified that for the safety of citizens in the area where the criminals were detected, an anti-terrorist operation (CTO) regime has been declared. Citizens living in nearby houses were evacuated. The NAC headquarters coordinates all security forces participating in the operation. Makhachkala Mayor Yusup Umavov clarified that the CTO regime has been introduced in the Leninsky and Sovetsky districts of the city, as well as in the city of Kaspiysk.
The head of the city cited the appeal of the Dagestan operations headquarters to all residents of the region with the request: “On increasing surveillance and providing comprehensive support to law enforcement agencies to solve problems in the fight against extremism and terrorism”.
