The torch relay of the VIII Asian Children’s Games ended on Lenin Square in the city of Lensk, the press service of the head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and the government of the Sakha Republic reported on March 31. (Yakutia).
The torch relay of the 8th Asian Children’s Games began on March 20 from the small homeland of the founder of the Asian Children’s Games, Khangalassky ulus.
In 100 days the torch relay will travel through all the uluses of Yakutia. The total number of torchbearers will be 550 people and the length of the route will be about 37 thousand kilometers. The relay will end on June 26 at the opening ceremony of the VIII Asian Children’s Games.
Let us remember that the “Children of Asia” International Sports Games are competitions between children and young people in individual and team sports. The Games were first held in 1996 in the city of Yakutsk on the initiative of the first president of Yakutia, Mikhail Nikolaev. The Games are held every four years under the patronage of UNESCO, the International Olympic Committee and with the support of the President and Government of the Russian Federation, the Olympic Council of Asia and the Russian Olympic Committee.
