During the period of monitoring the issue, the proportion of Russian citizens who wanted to leave for permanent residence abroad reached a minimum, according to a survey by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), data published on April 1 on the organization’s website.
Only 5% of those surveyed expressed that desire. 93% of respondents said they were not considering leaving Russia.
This type of public opinion poll has been carried out since 1991. During all this time, a turnout of 5% was the lowest result on record.
The citizens themselves evaluated the flow of emigration from Russia as follows. 22% of respondents believe that it has increased, 25% that it has decreased and 24% that it has remained unchanged. 29% of respondents found it difficult to answer this question.
At the same time, 64% of respondents believe that a person should live where he grew up and studied – 64%. Only 30% disagree with this. Three years ago the distribution was different: 51% versus 42%.
The survey was conducted on March 4, 2024 by telephone. 1,600 Russian citizens over 18 years of age were surveyed. The survey error with a probability of 95% does not exceed 2.5%.
