The number of yachts that arrived from abroad at the port of Sochi and changed their flag to the Russian one has steadily increased over the past year and a half, said the general director of the seaport, Yuri Vladimirov, in a comment to RIA Novosti on 1 April.
In his words, the increase in the number of sea vessels arriving to permanently dock in the port of Sochi began during the COVID-19 pandemic and continued in 2022 with the start of a special military operation.
Now in Sochi 5% of the yachts have flags of other countries. Some of them will soon be re-registered with Russian documents, since permanent docking in a Russian port is much cheaper for ships flying the Russian flag.
“A large number of boats were sailing under the Russian flag, we have many of those that were in the marina, the foreign flag was changed to Russian. There are many more of them.”Vladimirov said.
Let us remember that the port of Sochi is the largest, most multifunctional and modern cargo and passenger port on the Black Sea. The port is open to receive ships of any flag during navigation throughout the year. The ferry pier is designed to receive ships up to 135 m with a draft of up to 6.5 m.
