At least six people have died in a bombing on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capitalDamascus, attributed to Israel by the authorities, according to a report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The London-based organization has indicated that “Israeli missiles have destroyed a building attached to the Iranian Embassy” in Damascus. Among those killed at the diplomatic headquarters were senior Iranian officials, according to the Observatory. The Syrian Iranian news agency, SANA, has also attributed the bombing to Israel. The attack has caused extensive damage.
The Iranian ambassador to Syria, Hossein Akbari, and his family have escaped the attack unharmed.
The Observatory has also reported that on Sunday at least four Israeli projectiles hit a scientific research area in Yamraya, Damascus, and caused a fire there.
Israeli attacks in Syria
