France will present a draft resolution at the UN Security Council calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, the country’s representative to the UN, Nicolas de Riviere, told reporters on April 1.
“France will present a complete draft resolution today”noted de Rivière.
In his speech, the representative noted that the resolution would demand the release of all hostages and guarantee humanitarian access to the area. France will also express its condemnation of the attack that occurred on October 7 and will demand the cessation of hostilities without setting a specific deadline to end the conflict.
Let us recall that on March 30, the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Jordan and France, after a trilateral meeting in Cairo, called for the immediate implementation of all measures approved by the International Court of Justice to guarantee the immediate handover, without obstacles and secure humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
To implement the measures, the ministers demanded that Tel Aviv guarantee the operation of all checkpoints on the border with Gaza to increase the volume of aid delivered to the enclave in accordance with the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council. The ministers also said that the implementation of these measures would require an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages in the Gaza Strip.
