Four police officers were injured, one of them seriously, on Tuesday evening in a “terrorist clash” near the town of Kochav Yair, near the Green Line, according to a report. Times of Israel.
According to the same source, after the suspect reached the group of agents, the suspect headed to checkpoint 109, where he attempted to stab the security forces there. They managed to “neutralize” him.
The alleged “terrorist” was killed on the spot. According to police, he was Waheb Sabita, 26 years old, a resident of the neighboring city of Tire, of Arab-Israeli origin.
According to the newspaper, the family says the suspect’s brother told police that Waheb was having a psychotic episode and threatened to commit suicide 10 minutes before the attack.
“He was a quiet and reserved boy who had recently been diagnosed with a mental disorder,” they add.
Of the four victims, the 23-year-old officer was seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital. The rest suffered minor injuries, according to medical authorities.
