Free screenings of the film “They Fought for the Motherland” will be held in cinemas near Moscow, the press service of the Moscow Region Ministry of Culture and Tourism reported on February 1.
The film will be shown on February 2, the day Soviet troops defeated Nazi invaders near Stalingrad. The film will be shown in the Moscow region in 156 places.
The 1975 film, directed by Sergei Bondarchuk with a host of notable Soviet actors, narrates one of the episodes of the Battle of Stalingrad.
Remember that the Battle of Stalingrad became one of the largest and most decisive battles of the Great Patriotic War. The battle lasted from July 17, 1942 to February 2, 1943. During the battle, Soviet troops surrounded and defeated the German 6th Army near Stalingrad. In Nazi Germany, after the defeat of the Sixth Army on February 3, 1943, a three-day duel was declared.
