Monday’s attack on a World Central Kitchen (WCK) aid convoy was due to a military mistake because they believed it was carrying two armed Hamas militants, the Israeli army said on Friday.
Two Israeli commanders involved in the operation will be fired and two others will be reprimanded, according to a preliminary army report.
According to the investigation, Israeli forces identified two “armed men” in humanitarian aid trucks as the convoy was heading to a warehouse in Deir al-Balah, and when the vehicles left the site after unloading, “one of the commanders mistakenly assumed that the armed men were in the cars were Hamas terrorists.”
