Israel allows the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza through Ashdod and Erez

On the morning of Saturday, October 7, Israel woke up to an alarm after a surprise attack by the Islamic group Hamas using rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.

Sirens were heard in cities such as Tel Aviv and Beersheba as large numbers of armed Palestinians broke through Israeli-controlled walls and entered Israeli soil.

The Palestinians not only caused thousands of deaths, but also took more than 200 hostages.

The Israeli Prime Minister reacted quickly and declared “war” on Hamas.

“We are at war. We are not participating in the operation. These are not combat rounds. This is war,” said Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israel allows the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza through Ashdod and Erez

Israel will temporarily allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to the famine-stricken Gaza Strip through the port of Ashdod and the Erez crossing, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced this Friday.

The War Cabinet authorized the government to “take immediate measures to increase humanitarian assistance” to “avoid a humanitarian crisis” and “ensure the continuation of hostilities,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.

The information was released just hours after a warning from US President Joe Biden, who told Israel’s prime minister on Thursday that the US future in Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip depends on new measures to protect civilians and aid workers.

Biden says Netanyahu is fulfilling humanitarian aid commitments in the Gaza Strip

US President Joe Biden said this Friday that the Israeli government is implementing its requested measures to increase the supply of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Asked before boarding the presidential helicopter bound for Baltimore City whether he had threatened to cut off military aid to Israel during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden limited himself to answering that he had asked for Israel. “do what they do,” recognizing that their call has been answered.

In the last few hours, Israel has announced that it will allow temporary aid to flow through the port of Ashdod in southern Israel, as well as through the Erez crossing, which provides direct access to the northern Gaza Strip, in addition to increasing the flow of aid from Jordan through the Kerem Pass -Shalom in the south.
