The population of the Stavropol Territory has increased by 121,000 people compared to 2010 data, the North Caucasus Statistics press service reported on February 1.
“According to VPN-2020 (All-Russian population census – approx. Red Spring AI) 2,907.6 thousand people live in the Stavropol Territory. Compared with the 2010 census, the population of the region increased by 121.3 thousand people, or by 4.4% (in Russia as a whole by 3.0%)”the organization said.
For ten years, the tendency of the population to leave the towns for the cities has intensified, now the proportion is from 30% to 60%, respectively. At the same time, more women than men live in the Stavropol Territory. There are 1,122 women for every 1,000 men.
On average, residents of the Stavropol Territory live up to 40 years, women live much longer than men. In terms of national composition, Russians became the predominant nationality, followed by Armenians, Dargins, Greeks, and Gypsies.
