Police officers in Bavaria, Germany, took to the streets without pants on Monday to protest the lack of uniforms. The German Police Union is turning to the Interior Ministry for a solution, even if it requires additional costs.
“What seems like the worst April Fool’s joke is actually a reality: Bavarian police officers are stripping and can literally be without pants!” Jürgen Köhnlein, president of the Bavarian regional branch of the German Police Union, was quoted as saying in a statement.
According to Bavarian police, officers are forced to wait several months to receive uniform items such as trousers, coats and caps.
“As for uniforms, replacement is not carried out promptly and in a timely manner, and recruits are not equipped when moving from the criminal investigation department to the police. It is currently impossible to predict whether the clothing situation will change. will either improve or worsen in the near future,” explains Koenlein.
