Servicemen of the mountain units of the Southern Military District (SMD) stationed in North Ossetia destroyed a simulated enemy during exercises in the Caucasus mountains, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on February 1.
“In the first stage of the training, the scouts conducted reconnaissance of mountain routes using optoelectronic means, during which a simulated enemy deployment point was discovered in a remote mountainous area”says the message.
The data collected on the simulated enemy was handed over to the command, which decided to neutralize the simulated terrorist group, the district explained the plan of the operation.
During the exercises, military personnel marched towards the enemy drill deployment zone. 120mm self-propelled artillery mounts “Nona-SVK” were fired.
The tasks were carried out using Tiger armored vehicles, standard weapons and Kord heavy machine guns, the military district said.
