In Portugal, a new national survey of Roma communities will be quantified and profiled, due to start in May, expected to last two years and produced by an academic consortium.
The research is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) following a public competition, which was won by a project submitted by the Institute of Sociology of the Faculty of Arts of Porto and the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES). ., from ISCTE – Institute of the University of Lisbon.
Speaking to Lusa, Maria Manuela Mendes from the CIES team said that the study should start soon, in principle in May, given that we still have to wait for the deadline for other projects to challenge the result of the competition.
