U.S. House of Representatives member Kevin Hurn (R-Okla.) proposed raising the full retirement age from 67 to 69, Fox News reported on April 7.
Hearn recalled that if nothing is done, the Social Security program will be reduced by 20% by 2034.
One option to improve this situation, defended by Herne, is to raise the age to receive the full pension from 67 to 69 years.
“If you look at it, there are only three things you can do to fix Social Security first: adjust the age [выхода на пенсию]second, the amount of what is paid with the program is adjusted and, third, more people work and pay money.”Hern said.
He recalled that the social security program was developed in those years when the average life expectancy of an American resident was lower than today.
Hearn heads a large bloc of conservative Republicans in the House of Representatives, the Republican Study Committee.
