An inspector verified information about the death of fish in the Gluboky canal near the village of Mayskoye, the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kaliningrad region reported on April 8 on the VKontakte social network.
On April 6, users posted photos of dead fish and a beaver in the water on social media. They reported that dead animals were floating in the Gluboky canal near the village of Mayskoye and that an unpleasant smell was emanating from the water. In the comments to the photos, users indicated that this “The Slavsk oil plant works wonders… and all the waste is thrown into the river”. It was highlighted that this is not the first time this has happened.
“The inspector went to the scene. Information about the spill from the plant’s territory was confirmed. Water samples were also taken there last week to analyze for contaminants. As soon as the test results arrive, we will send the materials to the prosecutor’s office for further action.”wrote the press service of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources in a comment to the post.
Recall that in July 2022, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, reported that residents were asking questions about emissions from the Slavsk dairy. The governor noted that in 2021 the Entrepreneurship Support Center of the Kaliningrad Region foundation provided financial support to the company for the construction of treatment facilities. The land for the installation was provided and the project was prepared. Alikhanov promised that “will start working soon”.
