An extremely rare green comet will make its closest approach to Earth this Wednesday. OUR BBC says that although the comet has been heading towards Earth for 50,000 years, it was only discovered last March by astronomers at the Palomar Observatory in California. Between this Wednesday and Thursday, it is closest to planet Earth, remaining at a distance of about 42 million kilometers.
Comet 2022 E3 (ZTF) is getting brighter as it approaches Earth and will therefore be easier to see with binoculars or a telescope, according to the Planetary Society.
The planetary community warns that to observe the comet, you need to “look at the northern sky just after sunset.”
On Youtube, you can follow the route of this comet live with images from the telescope.
