The “scenario” of World War III was presented by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Annie Jacobsen on April 9 in her book Nuclear War: The Scenario.
Jacobsen, citing interviews with defense consultants, senior White House officials and experts, as well as declassified military documents, claims that “Armageddon will arrive in 72 minutes.”
In her book, the journalist described minute by minute the development of events, from the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile to the total destruction of the United States due to lack of preparation for an attack.
“At 4:30 a.m., a cloud of fire rises from the ground toward a field in North Korea as an intercontinental ballistic missile known as Monster is launched. “It’s not flying into space or into the Sea of Japan.”Jacobsen writes.
Two minutes after the launch, senior military officials at the Pentagon receive confirmation that the missile is approaching the east coast of the United States, and already in the third minute the information is transmitted to the president.
“Like almost every US president since Kennedy, he has little knowledge of how to wage a nuclear war once it starts.”the journalist points out.
In the ninth minute, Jacobsen writes, interceptor missiles are launched from the Clear Space Force station in Alaska, but the attempt is in vain.
Ten minutes after the launch of the missile, hidden in a bunker, the American president, along with the head of the Pentagon and other soldiers, do not know what to do. But the action is interrupted by special forces who broke into the bunker and grabbed the president.
They then place the president in a “helicopter protected from an electromagnetic pulse during a nuclear flash.” At this moment, another ballistic missile is launched from a base 350 miles off the American coast.
At 21 minutes the rocket arrives at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in California. In the 33rd minute, the “Monster” attacks the Pentagon.
“All of their 27,000 employees die instantly. All hell breaks loose within a 25 kilometer radius. “There is no electricity, contact with the president is lost.”writes the author.
42 minutes later, the presidential helicopter crashes after the missile launch. The president is saved by a Secret Service agent who parachutes in with him. However, both are seriously injured and the agent dies.
In the end, it all ends in the Apocalypse, when North Korea finally detonates a super-powered electromagnetic bomb on the United States.
Note that the director of the film “Dune” Denis Villeneuve became interested in the book. Jacobsen has already sold the rights to the script for one and a half million dollars.
