The relaunch of the Angara-A5 rocket was authorized by the State Commission, a Roscosmos representative told reporters on April 10.
“Today the state commission authorized the refueling and launch of the first Angara-A5 space rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome”said a Roscosmos representative.
According to the decision of the commission, the launch will take place on April 10 at 12:00 Moscow time. The launch vehicle will be transported with the Orion upper stage and test payload from Pad 1A.
Recall that the rocket launch was automatically canceled on April 9, two minutes before launch. Roscosmos Director General Yuri Borisov said the cancellation was due to a failure in the pressurization system of the oxidizer tank in the rocket’s central block. The failure forced technicians to drain the fuel and the launch was postponed to a reserve date of April 10.
The Angara missile family has been created in Russia since 1992. A rocket of this type can be launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region: since 2014, three launches of the light-class Angara-A1.2 have been carried out from there. and three launches of the heavy class Angara-A5. The infrastructure for the Angara launch has been under construction at the Vostochny Cosmodrome since 2018. In the future, the modernized Angara-A5M could be launched from here. This rocket can be used to launch modules of the Russian orbital station into orbit, as well as to launch manned spacecraft to the station.
