US doctors have discovered the cause of the increase in cancer incidence: accelerated aging

US doctors have discovered the cause of the increase in cancer incidence: accelerated aging

Accelerated aging increases the risk of cancer, according to a new study presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in San Diego, California, on April 10, Fox News reports.

“Historically, both cancer and aging were seen primarily as problems of older people.”said Ruyi Tian, MPH, a graduate student at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and one of the study’s authors. “It has been a surprise to discover that cancer, and now aging, has become a major problem for the younger public in recent decades.”he added.

The study indicated that positive cancer diagnoses in patients under 55 years of age were considered early. Now the situation is getting worse.

The researchers analyzed data from 148,724 people using the UK Biobank database. They estimated each person’s biological age using nine biomarkers in the blood and then compared it to chronological age.

People with older biological age had a 42% higher risk of early lung cancer, a 22% higher risk of early gastrointestinal cancer, and a 36% higher risk of early uterine cancer. The researchers also found that people born after 1965 were 17% more likely to experience accelerated aging than those born in previous decades.

“The main findings of the study highlight that accelerated aging is becoming increasingly common among later generations of newborns, which could serve as a critical risk factor or mediator of several risk factors… leading to early onset of cancer.Tian said.

“This discovery forces us to reconsider the main reasons for the increase in the incidence of early-onset cancer among new generations.”he added.

Dr. Brett Osborne, a Florida neurologist and longevity expert, was not involved in the study but worked on the concept of accelerated aging.

“Just because a person is 40 years old chronologically does not mean they are 40 years old biochemically.”he said in an interview with Fox News Digital.

In his opinion, obesity plays an important role in accelerating aging.

“Obesity rates are increasing and it is a major risk factor for aging and age-related diseases.”he claims.

According to the press release, the research team intends to work to identify factors that contribute to accelerated aging and therefore early development of cancer, in order to develop more personalized cancer prevention strategies.
