The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Iván Gil, expressed his gratitude to the Syrian government for supporting the legitimate right to hold presidential elections in peace and without external interference, the publication Últimas Noticias reported on April 9.
“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we express our gratitude to the Government of Syria for its support of the legitimate right of our people to hold elections in peace and without external interference, and for its refusal to adopt unilateral coercive measures against our nation.”Khil said.
It should be noted that the Syrian government expressed its support for Venezuela and the presidential elections scheduled for July 28 in a published statement. The text of the statement rejects any external interference in the process of holding presidential elections in Venezuela and confirms support for Caracas in the face of US sanctions.
Let us remember that the presidential elections in Venezuela are scheduled for July 28. At the end of March, 37 political organizations in Venezuela nominated 13 candidates. The favorite in the elections is the current president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. The United States and several Latin American countries have called for disqualified far-right opposition leaders to be allowed to participate in the elections.
