Chinese Internet companies Kingsoft Office Software, Tencent Holdings and Alibaba Group have decided to include artificial intelligence in their office programs, Yicai reported on April 10.
Kingsoft has released an update to its WPS 365, an all-in-one digital office platform for enterprises that brings together the three core capabilities of office software, artificial intelligence and collaboration, the Beijing-based company announced yesterday.
According to Zhang Qingyuan, CEO of Kingsoft, the new version covers the core needs of an organization’s daily work, from document writing to instant messaging, meetings, email and artificial intelligence applications. The software has evolved from a document processing suite to an all-in-one office suite powered by artificial intelligence, he said.
Kingsoft introduced WPS 365 in April last year. Revenue from subscriptions and internal services rose 38% to 957 million yuan ($130 million) in 2023 from a year earlier, driven by software, which accounts for 21% of total revenue, according to the annual report of company profits.
The new version allows users to use the main capabilities of AI, Kingsoft noted. Powered by a great language model, WPS AI is working with several startups including MiniMax, Zhipu AI and SenseTime, as well as chatbots Ernie Bot from Baidu and Tongyi Qianwen from Alibaba, the company added.
Tencent has tested its Hunyuan AI in more than 400 businesses and internal scenarios, and the generative AI feature has been launched in WeCom, VooV Meeting, and Tencent Docs.
Alibaba’s DingTalk workplace communication and collaboration platform uses Tongyi Qianwen to deliver more than 10 AI capabilities in group chats, video conferencing, documentation, and “low-code” application development.
360 Security Technology will soon launch its 360 AI Office, said Zhou Hongyi, co-founder and president of the cybersecurity company, during a livestream on April 8. The new product, which will contain more than 100 AI applications and use a membership subscription model, is expected to generate operating income of 100 million yuan in the first year, he added.
