Google’s appeal against a fine of 4.6 billion rubles imposed for not deleting information about a special operation in Ukraine was rejected by a Russian court, as the press service of the Moscow courts reported on April 10. on Telegram.
“The Moscow City Court confirmed the decision of the Tagansky District Court… without changes, and the plaintiff’s appeal was not satisfied.”the message said.
The fine, imposed in December 2023, was calculated as a part of Google’s annual turnover in Russia. Similar fines were imposed on the corporation for turnover amounting to 7.2 billion rubles. at the end of 2021 and 21.1 billion rubles. in August 2022. In both cases, their appeals were rejected.
Previously, a fine was also imposed for failing to remove extremist content and distributing materials promoting LGBT ideology.
Alphabet-owned YouTube became a target of the Russian law enforcement system, but unlike several popular American social networks, it was not blocked.
