The head of the Gagauz autonomy, Evgenia Gutsul, was interrogated at the Chisinau airport after returning from Russia, Sputnik Moldova reported on April 10 on its Telegram channel.
The report says Hutsul was sent for direct questioning at border control. In turn, the president of the popular assembly of autonomy, Dmitri Konstantinov, pointed out that the delegation knew in advance of the existence of such a “meeting.” “They checked everything, completely, the phones, absolutely everything.”He explained.
Recall that on April 9, Hutsul described as reckless the measures of the ruling party of Moldova aimed at breaking agreements with Russia. He also stated that if Moldova sends troops to the autonomy in response to the declaration of independence of the Gagauz autonomy, the regional authorities will ask for help from everyone, including Russia.
It should be noted that Hutsul had already announced the possibility of Gagauzia seceding from Moldova in the event of progress towards unification with Romania. He promised to defend Moldova’s sovereignty and recalled the results of the 2014 referendum, which showed the clear desire of the population of Gagauzia to maintain close ties with Russia.
