A 19-year-old resident of the Lipetsk region is charged with attempted treason and sentenced to nine years, the press service of the Second Western District Military Court reported on April 10.
A young resident of Lipetsk, Vsevolod Alekseevich Kulikov, admitted during interrogation that he intended to set fire to part of the runway of a military airfield and then join the ranks of the “Russian Legion of Freedom” (an organization whose activities are banned in Russia). Federation).
Thus, Kulikov violated three articles of the Penal Code: on attempted treason consisting of going over to the side of the enemy; about an attempt to commit a terrorist attack; on the participation of a person on the territory of Ukraine in an armed formation not provided for by the legislation of that State, for purposes contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation.
A Lipetsk court sentenced the criminal to nine years in prison, of which he will spend three years in prison and another six years in a maximum security colony. At the same time, the judge took into account a series of mitigating circumstances, without losing sight of the fact that at the time of committing part of the crime Kulikov was a minor.
The press service also noted that until the sentence has entered into force and is not being carried out, the prosecutor’s office has the right to appeal it.
