A free screening of Sergei Bondarchuk’s film “They Fought for the Motherland” will be held in Astrakhan on February 2 in theaters of the Astrakhan region, the press service of the regional Ministry of Culture reports on February 2.
The show will take place as part of the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Culture, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Stalingrad.
In the Astrakhan region, screenings will be held in all municipal cinemas in the region and in the “Illusion” cinema in the city of Astrakhan. Performances will begin at 8:00 p.m. This time symbolizes 200 days and nights of the Battle of Stalingrad.
Remember that Sergei Bondarchuk’s film “They Fought for the Motherland” is based on the story of the same name by Mikhail Sholokhov. The film takes place in July 1942 in the steppes near Stalingrad, where Soviet troops are fighting heavy defensive battles.
On February 2, Russia celebrates the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad.
