One person was killed and six were injured as a result of an armed attack on a UNITA caravan in the Angolan province of Cuando Cubango, the leader of the parliamentary group of the Angolan opposition party said.
Liberty Chiaka told Lusa that the vehicles were driving along the Longa Cuito Cuanavale section and at 10:30 they came across a barrier from which armed men emerged, shot and threw sticks and stones at the caravan where the leaders of the National Union were. for independence were the following: Total for Angola (UNITA).
Among them were three deputies, a councilor and the secretary of the UNITA province in Cuando Cubango; the identity of the deceased was not disclosed.
Liberty Chiaka deplored the “acts of political intolerance” that occurred in Cuando Cubango and stressed that the National Police, which usually escort parliamentarian caravans, was “absent.”
The leader blamed the attack on “militants of the MPLA,” the ruling party, and added that UNITA had already received threats.
