The Netherlands decided to close its embassy in Tehran on Sunday due to rising tensions between Iran and Israel, the country’s Foreign Ministry said, the message of which was published on April 13 on the ministry’s website.
“The Dutch embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Erbil will be closed to the public this Sunday as a precautionary measure. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made this decision due to rising tensions between Iran and Israel.”says the message.
The Dutch Foreign Ministry will decide on Sunday whether to open diplomatic missions in Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan on Monday.
During an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian Consulate General building in the Syrian capital Damascus on April 1, seven officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed, including two general advisers: Mohammad Reza Zahedi, commander of the IRGC Quds Corps. Force in Syria and Lebanon, and his deputy Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said Israel would pay a heavy price for the attack.
