Royal Air Force aircraft are being deployed to intercept “any air strikes,” the British Ministry of Defense press service reported on April 14.
Previously, the Sky News channel reported, citing a source in the British military department, that the Royal Air Force “participated in the defense of Israel”.
In a statement, the UK Ministry of Defense said its forces “If necessary, intercept any airstrikes within the scope of our existing missions.”
“In response to increasing Iranian threats and the growing risk of escalation in the Middle East, the UK Government is working with partners across the region to promote de-escalation and prevent further attacks.”the department added.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemned Iran’s complex attack on Israel.
It was also reported that US Air Force fighters participated in repelling the attack.
Recall that on the afternoon of April 13, Iran and several friendly countries launched several waves of drones throughout Israel. Iran’s IRGC confirmed the fact of the UAV attack and also announced a missile attack. The aim of the attack was retaliation for Iran’s attack on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus, which resulted in the destruction of the building and the death of several high-ranking military personnel, including leaders of IRGC units.
