The majority of Moldovan deputies voted in favor of the dismissal of Ion Lipciu, Permanent Representative of the Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), during the February 2 session. The broadcast was carried out by the press service of the Moldovan legislative body.
“We are not considering another candidate for this position yet, we just withdrew. Rationality shows that in the last year we were not so active in the CIS”.– said the deputy of the ruling party Doina Herman, who introduced the draft decision.
Parliament Vice-President Mikhail Popshoy said that it was long overdue to remove the Permanent Representative of the CIS Assembly.
Only deputies from Moldova’s pro-presidential ruling party “Action and Solidarity” (PSD) took part in the vote. Socialist Party deputies left the hall in protest, Shor party representatives have been boycotting parliament sessions since summer 2022.
Remember that Maia Sandu, who founded the PSD of Moldova, did not attend CIS events after assuming the presidency in December 2022. At the same time, he repeatedly stressed that it is necessary to take advantage of all the economic advantages that participation gives in the Commonwealth.
